One of the most important aspects in treating your condition is gaining an accurate diagnosis. To achieve this I will investigate subjective information related to the injury through a detailed consultation with you. I will then perform objective tests to create a clear picture of your injury or dysfunction. During this part of the assessment I will consider and assess: muscle length, range of movement, active and passive flexibility, muscle condition, firing patterns, balance, proprioception, gait analysis, postural analysis, specific special (diagnostic) tests and palpation.
The purpose of an injury assessment is to:
– Accurately diagnose your injury
– Identify the root cause of your injury
– Understand the history of the injury, ie how did it happen?
– Help formulate an appropriate treatment plan
